premise that the mail is secure. By itself, Internet email is an insecure communications channel. Messages sent via standard
Internet email travel in “plain text” and cross many networks before reaching their final destination. As a result,
confidential and/or sensitive information can be compromised and potential lead to liability for your company. Since
confidentiality cannot be guaranteed, standard Internet email should not be used to exchange sensitive or private information.
Alexant Secure Email resolves this problem by seamlessly and effortlessly encrypting email containing sensitive data whether
the sensitive date is in the subject or the body of the email.
How Alexant Secure EMail Works
Alexant’s Secure Email is a hosted solution…that is we provide all of the software and hardware needed to implement secure
email. There is no need to have any appliances or other special equipment on your site. Nor is there a need to specifically request
the mail to be encrypted. This is because Alexant’s Secure E-mail uses Lexicons (Key Words or Patterns) that are matched
against the email content. So the user simply mails their emails as normal. If there is no sensitive data in the email, the
email is transmitted normally. If the email does contain sensitive information the message is encrypted and a notification
message is sent to the recipient. Depending on options chosen the recipient will either be directed to a secure web site to
pick up the mail or have an embedded secure attachment delivered with the email. If Web delivery is the chosen retrieval method
the notification message will contain a link to a secure web site. The user simply clicks on the link, log into the secure web
site, and retrieves their message.
Create Your Account
The first time you use Alexant SecureMail, you will be prompted to create an account. Simply provide your email address and create
a password to establish your account. You will use this password each time you log into Alexant SecureMail. A confirmation message
will be sent to the email address you entered. You will need to click the link in the confirmation email to complete the account
set up process. You can now begin using your Alexant SecureMail account.
Retrieving a Secure Email
When you send a secure email message, the recipient will receive a notification message via standard Internet email. Generally
the recipient will simply Click the link contained in the notification message to be taken to the login screen where they will
be prompted to enter their email address and password previously established. Once logged in, you can read your Alexant SecureMail,
download it to your computer, or send a secure reply message.
Sending a Secure Email
To send a Alexant SecureMail message to the Alexant click on any Alexant SecureMail link on Alexant’s web site. You will
be taken to the login screen where you will be prompted to enter your email address and password that you established. Once logged
in, you can create a new Alexant SecureMail message by clicking on the “Compose” tab.
